Happy New Year to everyone! 2008 was quit the memorable year from the brutal winter with countless inches of snow to the tornadoes and then floods, we can only hope that 2009 holds a more positive outlook. We rang in the new year with some close friends and their families. I suppose it is a sign of getting older, as we both didn't feel the need to make huge plans to party it up. As long as I made it to 12:00, with a drink near by, I have had a successful evening!
I suppose that is because an expected early morning was to start at our house as we hosted the Outback Bowl at 8:30AM. Well in case you need to be reminded, The Hawks won the bowl with an incredible win over South Carolina of 31 to 10!

I know it has been a while since we have blogged, so I guess I have some catching up to do! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Time was well spent with family & friends. My brother Eriek and Laura flew in from Texas to spend Christmas with us, it was the first time Laura had ever experienced a white Christmas, whoa, would it be Christmas if it wasn't white! Well, she brought us back to our childhood memories when she requested that we all get dressed up and head outside to play in the snow! I have to admit, it was a lot of fun and I found myself eating the snow, but refrained from wiping my snot on my sleeve (kids are gross, I cannot believe I ever did that!) Although the snow was too powdery for snowman making, we still enjoyed tromping through the snow at the Grizzly Rose.

Time spent with the rest of the family was nice, but it felt too short. Payton had his very first Christmas, and did very well. He wasn't overwhelmed yet with all the gifts, wrapping paper and people in his face. He did however get this dancing duck from his Great Grandma Phyllis, that flopped it's wings and sang a song. If you grabbed it by the neck and pulled up it made this horrible choking noise that made us all laugh, but brought a look of worry on Payton's face. Uncle Brandon took the time to introduce the ducky, but I think it was because he was have way more fun than Payton...I cannot wait for our own (I will loose my husband in the toy isles) !

I do need to take the time to congratulate Justin and Erin who got married on December 6th in Waverly. It was a beautiful wedding, as the church was decorated for Christmas with the reception following with the same theme. They of course the happy couple looked amazing, and if you are wondering...Justin lost the bet. Yep, he shed tears before Payton, but they were tears of pure happiness and it was an honor to play such a important roll in their day.

January will be a very busy month for us as we have several company holiday parties to attend. For now it is just getting through the next few winter months, (which depress me) and look forward to the next few months when we can expect a few new additions to our friend and family circle. Cousin Erin & Kris due March (girl), friends Andrew & Caryn due March (sex unknown), friends Clint & Brandy due April (boy) and friends Mike and Kirsten due in May (girl) Wow, that is a lot to be thankful for, new little lives entering our world!
