24 Weeks

Today marks 24 weeks for us and with that we had our regular scheduled appointment with Dr. McCarron.  Once again, we are glad to report that everything is going great!  Today was the first time my fundal height was measured and we are measuring right on.  Little miss sounded wonderful with a strong heart beat of 145.  It doesn't matter how often we hear that heart pounding, it makes us smile every time.  She was pretty active during the exam, even showing Dr. McCarron how she could dance around while he was trying to listen to her.

This week marks a milestone for us, she is now considered viable, meaning if for some reason she decided to arrive early, she would have over a 50% chance of survival!  We have no worries of this, but it is nice to know with the neonatal technology we have today, that we would have more options then even 5 years ago.

She is pretty active and every week brings more strength in those legs.  Daddy gets to feel her a lot but mostly at night when she seems more active.  We were able to watch her poke through my shirt the other night, that was pretty neat!  Of course, someone else likes to feel her move, that would be her big brother and one of these days she is going to kick back...she would if she could smell that dragon breath!

I received my flu shot today and we did discuss the latest on H1N1 and how it could affect our pregnancy.  Dr. McCarron did say the protocal changes daily, however he mentioned that the vaccine will probably not be available until December or January.  He said that 80% of influenza syptoms are fever and cough, so if I do happen to show these, to call and Tamiflu would be perscribed.  I am confident we are in good hands and am hoping to stay healthy for the next several months.
