Gold Digger

Was the name of the fake $5,000 lotto ticket we gave my step-dad David for his 60th birthday!  My Mom surprised David and arranged for his children to return home for Thanksgiving, and in addition to his family, all of my siblings arrived as well.  Full House was an understatement, but what an overwhelming feeling for David.  So back to the lottery...on our way to their house, Brandon bought 5 real tickets.  I scratched one off and of course it was a loser.  We placed the remainder in his birthday card, and crossed our fingers he would fall for it.  Well, as the entire family gathered in the living room, my mom encouraged David to scratch his tickets.  We were all part of the plot, including my Mom.  It was 9:30 at night, a full day of family & a stoked bon fire, possibly a few toties later lead to David without his glasses, scratching the tickets off with a butter knife!  The first ticket was scratched, bam! he clapped his hands, pumped his fists in the air and rooster walked into the living room and shouted $10.00!!  Wow, we all thought, cool he did win something!  Second ticket, nothing...third ticket he takes a deep breath at the counter and says "I do NOT belive my eyes...someone else read this!"  We all knew it was the fake on, so he scoots his feet into the living room and hands it over to Brandon.  Brandon thinks he will blow it with the giant grin on his face so he passes to his right.  David says, "$100.00!! I don't believe it"  Sure enough, he was right.  He is now winning on the real lotto tickets we had kindly given him!  Fourth ticket...nothing, and the best for last, he scratch the fifth ticket, tosses it back on the counter and says, "this must be wrong, I cannot belive this is happening to me!"  At that moment he returns to the living room with the Gold Digger, and as we are passing it around in disbelief, he is high fiving, giving hugs and thanking Brandon and I for the best birthday gift ever!  Well, we could not let it go on any longer, as we all recoverd from our belly laughs,  we suggested he turn it around for the processing information.  Without his glasses, it was read a loud to him that it needed to be send to the Money Fairy at 123 No Where Drive, in Make Belive Land...bummer dude!  He was flustered and thought they all were fake, but was a great sport about it all.  Brandon made a good point, he didn't feel so bad after knowing that he won $110.00 out of it!

Happy Birthday David!!
