Annual Canoe Trip

Once again we had a wonderful time on the Annual Canoe Trip. Our morning started out a lot like last year, overcast, chilly and doubts about what the day had in store for us. We tried our best to stay on schedule, but ended up getting on the river about an hour and a half later than last year. No worries, because once again once we hit the water, and the sun started to shine. This year the water levels were a lot lower which caused us to get hung up in the shallow waters quite a bit. We found ourselves having to get out of the canoe a lot, okay mostly Brandon, to push us to deeper water. Fallen trees and branches created several obstacles that caused a few issues, allowing several to get wet. I know it is not nice to laugh at others misfortunes, BUT there were some pretty funny wipe outs! Let me note that no one got hurt or lost any personal items, so that we are thankful for. One of our greatest memories from this trip, and there are many, is when team Rosendahl dumped it for the second time. Seth in an Afro wig, steering the canoe from the back seat, t-boned a parked canoe in front of 30+ party goers. After recovering themselves and their belongings one of the guys yells, "dude, that isn't your real hair is it?" Well, you take a look for yoursef!

This year we decided it would be fun to name and theme our canoes. There were some pretty creative props out there, several that are not appropriate to blog, but all of them were great! Next year we will be coming full effect!

One of our favorite check points along the trip are the fresh water springs. Brandon brought a thermometer along this year and the water registered in at 51 degrees...that is COLD! This year the weather was just not warm enough for either of us to take the full plunge, but several showed they were dedicated enough to do so.

We returned to the campsite just in time to regroup, shower, put warm/dry clothes on and strike up the grill. Sat around the campfire, listened to some tunes and had good conversations. I stayed by the fire until almost falling asleep as I was not looking forward to climbing into a cold damp tent. Well, it was not a good night sleep, but thankfully it is only once a year. Thank you Seth for the many many many laughs, you have left a lasting impression on all of us and I'm not sure you couldn't top your outfit next year, in fact I'm pretty sure you won't want to.

Lasting impression... Some would say we have been scared for life.
