We were able to take our first look inside at our baby today, and it was incredible! The reason for our 12 week ultrasound is because Brandon and I have chosen to take part in a Sequential Screening, which tests for Down Syndrome, Trisomy 18 and open neural tube defects. It is a 3 part test, with the first part taking place between weeks 10 - 12. It includes lab work, then an ultrasound which focuses on the measurements of neck. At 16 weeks, I will have another set of labs drawn, and with those results determines the final result of the screening.
We both agreed, the visit just didn't last long enough! We could have sat and gazed at our little one all day long, plus it was entertaining all the moving around it did. Bouncing around, moving it's hands up towards the face, turning from back to side, just absolutely amazing!

"I'd like to give a shout out to my Mom & Dad!"

Of course it was too soon to find out if we will be buying blue or pink, but it really doesn't matter because thus far everything has gone well and we only hope that it continues to.
Our next appointment with Dr. McCarron is July 24th, as that will be a routine visit. We will have our 20 week ultrasound towards the end of August, but until then I look forward to the next time we get another look inside at our growing baby! Today has just been a wonderful experience that again we chalk up as not only a very important milestone, but the chance to view a blessing!
